Every weekend we do meal prep but my favourite is seeing colour. And how easy is roasted veggies? Love the colour of this red potato, carrot and green capsicum. So easy: just cut em up slightly bigger than bite size, a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread em out on a baking/cookie sheet and bake depending on how well done you like it (I do about 15-20mins in 200°) and let it stay in the oven if I want it a bit more cooked. I do like my veggies on the just-cooked still with a bit of crunch though, so your preference (and how big the pieces are) will come into play.
When you go on wine tasting tours, somehow wine tastes better than when you’re home with a bottle you bought from the same winery. It’s either you’re too drunk, you got sales-talked, you’re using a different glass or you stored the bottle in a less-desirable temperature. However, this wine—Helen & Joey’s Chardonnay (Alena)—is nothing but amazing. We had this last night (bought this in August) and I still feel the same: it might just be the most delicious white I’ve ever had. YMMV, and it’s true that I don’t drink a lot of whites, but for me to tell my husband, “Go finish that sh*t,” referring to a glass of sparkling wine still in his hand, that’s something. This wine is so beautifully smooth—silky, even—floral with hints of vanilla. Yes, I just described wine (good on me!) 😂 .
If you ever have to gift wine to someone who actually likes wine, this would be my suggestion. It’s not really on the price range for #cheapwineexplorations but we all know gifting wine lovers is a bit more than just a $15-20 bottle. (I think this retails for $50)

One of my fave things over the Christmas holidays was seeing how (relatively) easy it was to make a delicious plate of salmon aburi nigiri 🍣 .
Sushi Rice + slice of salmon + mayo + torch (maybe I will grill mine, bec I don’t have a torch) + sauce (teriyaki-ish). Our host also made a separate batch with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper which I really loved! ❤️

Christmas freaking ham! First Christmas to actually carve out some slices from a leg. Funny thing is the ham was free from a neighbour, which my husband’s cousin’s wife cooked and glazed today.
